Dr. Ades Industry Issues

Gary Ades, Ph.D.,  is an experienced food professional having worked in the technical, manufacturing and marketing areas of the Food and Foodservice industry.

He provides food safety, quality assurance, risk assessment, audit planning, crisis planning and product and strategic planning assistance to his clients on a worldwide basis.  

Prior to his current position, he held senior level positions with Wal-Mart, Foster Farms and Tasty Baking Company as well as with Arthur D. Little (ADL) and Technomic. He has also been a principal with Marketing Spectrum and Technical Food Information Spectrum (TFIS).  

Gary is a member of numerous organizations. He served for three terms on the National Advisory Committee on Microbiological Criteria for Foods (NACMCF) and currently is on the Advisory Board for Food Quality magazine and the Executive Education Advisory Committee for the Food Safety Summit. 

He is also an Adjunct Professor and Instructor at the University of Minnesota, School of Public Health, Public Health Institute. 

Gary is Secretariat for Safe Supply of Affordable Food Everywhere (SSAFE). SSAFE is a not-for-profit international organization that establishes platforms for public-private-partnerships to address issues regarding Harmonization of Standards, Capacity Building and Social Responsibility. The mission of SSAFE is to identify, support and facilitate activities that address the association of animal health, wildlife, agriculture, aquaculture, fisheries and beverages with food safety, human health, plant health and environmental sustainability on a global basis. 

He received his Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Food Science from The Pennsylvania State University and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Food Science & Technology from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University.
